Exercise has always been an important aspect in my life. From the time I was a little girl, I enjoyed playing outside. It was a way to burn off energy in addition to improving my athletic skills. My dad was and still is into exercising almost daily; he’s 69 years old. I believe that is one of the reasons why he recovered from cancer as quickly as he did. As a little girl, I would follow my dad on my bike while he went running; it was so much fun! This is where I fell in love with exercise. I saw first hand all of the activities my dad was able to do as a result of being in such good physical condition. My dad was my role model…I wanted to be just like him. After college I became an Exercise Specialist. I thought is was the greatest job in the world! I could not believe that I was getting paid for teaching and motivating clients to exercise. When working with clients, I could never understand how they could not find the time to exercise…I did; therefore, I expected that everyone else should. It took a change in career and two children later to finally realize how difficult it is actually is to find the time to exercise- to exercise at the intensity that I was used to! I now find myself in the same boat as the individuals I used to train. Oh how life changes! I have decided to blog about exercise (as well as other nonsense) to motivate myself into finding time to exercise in addition to motivating others. “All parts of the body which have a function if used in moderation and exercised in labors in which each is accustomed, become thereby healthy, well developed and age more slowly, but if unused they become liable to disease, defective in growth and age quickly.” Hippocrates
